N + ने (Subject marker)
Placed after the subject (doer) when talking about completed actions in the past
Example
उसने खाना खाया
He/She ate the food
Usage Notes
ने only appears with transitive verbs (verbs that take an object) in the completed past tense. Intransitive verbs like जाना, आना, सोना never use ने — you say वह गया, not उसने गया.
When ने is used, the verb agrees with the object, not the subject. That's why उसने किताब पढ़ी (feminine, agrees with किताब) but उसने अख़बार पढ़ा (masculine, agrees with अख़बार).
