N + को (To / For)
Means 'to' or 'for' — shows who receives something or who an action is directed at
Example
मैंने उसको किताब दी
I gave the book to him/her
Usage Notes
को has two main jobs: marking the receiver ("I gave it to him") and marking a specific object ("I saw that man" → मैंने उस आदमी को देखा). The second use has no English equivalent — it makes the object definite.
Pronouns fuse with को: मुझको → मुझे, तुमको → तुम्हें, उसको → उसे. Both forms are correct, but the short forms are more common in everyday speech.
